Raid Guidelines

Guild Raid Loot Guidelines

Anyone who is interested in being included in guild events needs to familiarize themselves with the calendar and sign up for events applicable to them. PLEASE NOTE raid signups are to be taken as a sign of interest only, not a guarantee in any posted raid. The leader of any given raid has the final say in terms of destination, personnel, etc. Always assume the raid leader has both a destination and his or her potential lineup set in mind, and does not require helpful suggestions as to either during the setting up process. If you sign up and cannot or will not be able to attend please remove yourself from the sign up.

Also note, we are starting to work toward a more regular raiding schedule with certain events on certain days. We're getting to the point where we have the numbers and the interest to do some of this stuff every week with a great measure of success. Nobody is ever required to attend or participate in guild events, whether by choice or due to RL constraints or conflicts.

Lastly, please remember all decisions in regards to all raids and events are at the discretion of the raid leader, and should be accepted and respected by all guild members. Any questions or concerns can be addressed by any of the officers during an appropriate time (i.e. not during, or in the moments leading up to, a raid).

Loot Rules

We ask that all of our raiders be considerate with regards to loot and their distribution. There is always a next time in an instance. We run most instances often and see many of these drops multiple times.
The raid leader reserves the right to implement loot rules as they deem necessary. At the onset of any raid the raid leader will explain the loot rules. This is a non-negotiable item. Loot rules will be one of the following three options:

Master Looter A : Raid Leader will distribute loot according to their best judgment with the best interests of the guild in mind. There will be no discussion, no rolling. Loot will just be assigned.

Master Looter B: Raid Leader will be master looter. The raid leader will determine the group of players eligible for a piece and will ask all of those players to discuss amongst themselves and come to a unanimous decision as to the distribution of the piece. The decision will then be explained before the item is distributed.

Distribution: If a raid leader opts not to use Master Looter, all blue and purple items will be passed through by everyone in the raid. All of those that are interested will roll in party chat.

Gear will be distributed first to main toons and secondly to alts. Exception to this rule may be made if the raid leader asks that a player bring a specific alt. Also gear will be distributed to main spec first, and off spec second. Main spec will always take precedence over off spec. All loot will be limited to one drop per boss, so please choose carefully. There may be exception to this rule if no one else can use an item. A raid leader may request someone to sit out a few rounds if they see someone getting an excessive amount of gear.

Things to consider when looking at drops

1. Tanking Gear
a. +Defense will go to tanks first
b. +Dodge is likely to be for a Druid Tank
c. +Parry is likely to be for a Death Knight
d. +Spell Power is likely to be for a Pally Tank

2. DPS casters, if an item has +hit and +spell power will go to a dps caster such as a Shadow Priest, Mage, Warlock

3. Clothing items are often class / type specific first priority will apply accordingly (as a side note, if that level of item is not useful to someone that is supposed to wear it, then another class that can use the item is free to roll for it):

a. Cloth items will be distributed to Mages, Priests, and Warlocks first
b. Leather will be distributed to Rogues and Druids first
c. Mail will be distributed to Hunters and Shaman First
d. Plate will be distributed to Warriors, Paladins, and Death Knights First.

4. BOE Purple or Blue drops -

If someone or multiple people can use it will follow the same loot rules as designated by the raid leader. Otherwise the item will be collected by an officer and put in the guild bank on the 5th tab to be distributed as fairly as possible amongst the guild.

Some of this has been posted on these forums previously, while some of it is new. While subject to change, none of it is negotiable or open to debate.

As a final note: "No item of loot, quest of trade skill item, or any other item is more important than the people in the guild and the sense of camaraderie, family and good will within the guild."
While this is a game, real life values do still apply.

Thank you all for your cooperation and contributions that have helped to make HCWT the great guild it always has been.
